My name is Michael Akpata, and I am an accomplished community leader with a tremendous passion for serving my fellow Canadian citizens. As a reservist and former police officer, I have extensive knowledge in law enforcement and public safety, which I use in my current position as a councillor for the Town Of LaSalle. Apart from this, I also actively participate in various advocacy work and serve as a public speaker.
As a Former Police Officer
I was a Senior Constable with the Windsor Police Service for 21 years, where I specialized in investigating crimes related to elder abuse and fraud.
As a Veteran
In my 26 years of service as a Canadian Infantry reservist, I was given the opportunity to serve in a tour of duty in Afghanistan. This experience has allowed me to understand the sacrifices given by members of the armed forces who had previously served overseas. To provide my fellow veterans with the assistance they need, I partake in peer counseling sessions for causes dedicated to them.
As a Town Councillor
With a dedication to serving the public, I ran and was elected councillor in LaSalle, Ontario. Specifically, I work collectively with various resident interests that benefit my community.
As an Advocate and Public Speaker
For more than two decades, I have been devoting countless hours to collaborating with different community groups and charities. By publicly sharing valuable insights with various organizations, I am also able to help them reach their goals and improve their operations.
